Educational Care and Social Gerontology

The specialization Educational Care and Social Gerontology equips students with the knowledge, skills, and competencies needed to provide care for individuals of various ages, including work with the elderly.

Graduates are prepared to engage in diverse activities aimed at supporting individuals, families, and social groups. They are equipped to work both one-on-one with people requiring individualized support and to lead group-based activities. They possess social competencies that enable them to build and maintain interpersonal relationships, which are essential for fostering social bonds at the levels of individual – family – local community – society. They are capable of professionally supporting older adults in active participation in social, cultural, educational, and recreational life.

Graduates may find employment in various out-of-school institutions involved in education, care, and upbringing, including day-support centers (e.g., youth clubs, community centers, educational care facilities), care and educational institutions, family support units, various social institutions (e.g., social welfare centers, county family assistance centers), and adult care facilities (e.g., residential care homes, day support centers), among others.
