Persons with Intellectual Disability Education and Rehabilitation

The study program in the specialization Persons with Intellectual Disability Education and Rehabilitation (oligophrenopedagogy) prepares students to work with children and adolescents with intellectual disabilities across all types of schools and educational institutions.
The aim of the program is to equip students with qualifications that authorize them to conduct educational and revalidation classes for individuals with intellectual disabilities.

In addition to teaching, graduates will also obtain revalidation qualifications that enable them to work in care and rehabilitation institutions for people with intellectual disabilities, such as sheltered workshops (focused on vocational activation), social welfare homes, day-care centers, and other revalidation facilities.

Students will develop the ability to undertake rational and effective educational, pedagogical, and revalidation activities for children with a wide range of intellectual disabilities. They will also gain knowledge in diagnosing, planning, and implementing individual educational plans tailored to intellectually disabled children.

The acquired competencies will allow graduates to model attitudes and behaviors toward people with disabilities, helping to combat social exclusion of individuals with intellectual disabilities.

The program provides qualifications to work with intellectually disabled children and adolescents, and prepares students to become special education teachers for students with disabilities in inclusive and special schools. It also provides training in working with students with autism and Asperger’s syndrome.

The key advantages of this program include an experienced teaching staff with long-term pedagogical practice, modern teaching methods, and a curriculum focused on developing in-depth practical skills.
